Project Ritu

A young couple, three cats, and a two-month timeline to turn one small bedroom into a space that worked for all of them. The brief leaned toward art and nature, so the room stays quiet on materials, wood, marble, brass, and lets light and form do the talking. The headboard wall is a backlit arched cove, softening the ceiling line instead of stopping at it. Storage was the real puzzle in 700 sq ft: three separate wardrobes so each person keeps their own space, a dressing table with velvet-lined drawers and its own integrated lighting, and a gaming setup that disappears behind a sliding shutter when it's not in use.

The balcony solved the bigger problem. The cats live in the room, so the balcony was enclosed, with a tunnel built through to the window that opens and closes on demand, giving the cats their own access and something to play on, without the couple losing their privacy. Black and white chevron flooring, a suspended wooden swing, and a high-gloss black bar nook finish the space, one room in the flat built purely for slowing down.
