A 1,500 sq ft apartment in Pune, where every room picked its own colour and stuck to it.

Most homes settle for one palette repeated room to room. This one didn't. The dining room runs sage green velvet chairs with gold-capped legs against a teal, textured accent wall. The main bedroom goes navy and warm wood, a channel-tufted headboard under full-height wood slat panelling, black-and-white ocean photography doing the only quiet thing in the room. A third bedroom turns olive green, a built-in window seat with mustard and navy cushions tucked into a fluted-panel nook, the same fluted panel reappearing on a bedroom wardrobe elsewhere in the home.

The living room settles into a deep petrol-blue sofa, cream linen cushions, a mustard throw, brass and wood accents carried through from the media wall's sculptural door pulls.

The kids'/guest room breaks pattern again: green built-in bed, navy upholstered headboard, an orange door as the one loud note in an otherwise considered room.

Nothing in this home matches by rule. It holds together through repetition of a few things: wood tone, brass hardware, one strong colour per room, never texture for its own sake.
